Reading the device technologies side by side
| Ultherapy: ultrasound | Official information describes microfocused ultrasound with real-time visualization. |
|---|---|
| Thermage: radiofrequency | Official information describes radiofrequency delivery through a handpiece, with cooling and vibration features. |
| Device and consumables | Request the Ultherapy version and transducer, or the Thermage model and tip, in the quotation. |
| Interpreting shot counts | Equal counts across the two technologies do not represent equal energy delivery, treatment amount or results. |
Compare the quote accurately
Request the device model, treatment area, shot count and what the fee includes. The same number of shots across different technologies is not a measure of equal effect. Ask about pain-management choices, possible adverse effects and any follow-up.
Avoid choosing a combination by default
A combined package is not automatically necessary or better. Tell the clinician about previous energy-based procedures, implants, medications and your travel schedule. Discuss the individual reasons for each treatment before agreeing to a combined plan.
Frequently asked questions
Which treatment is better?
There is no universal winner. An examination and your goals determine the proposed approach; a popularity list cannot make that decision.
